Laser Spider Vein Treatments

Around our office, we try to pick up on common questions that most patients when it comes to different procedures. Listed below are a few on Laser Spider Vein Treatments.

Are the treatments as painful as sclerotherapy (injecting the veins)?

The treatment feels like a rubber band popping the skin. We use a cooling gel and simultaneously blow cool air on the skin surface to minimize any discomfort.

Should I shave before my treatment?
Yes, either the night before or the morning of your procedure. We also ask that you do not apply lotion in the areas being treated.

Does the spider vein go away immediately?
Generally not. The laser heats up the blood in the vein causing it to collapse. Your body's immune system takes over from there to gradually clear away the dead debris left behind. This process generally takes about 6 weeks.
